A s they have for 14 years, a cross-section of San Marcos people gathered in front of city hall to commemorate the anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks on Friday, Sept. 11. The ceremony is hosted by the San Marcos Fire Department, whose members raise the U.S. flag and then lower it to half-staff; ceremonially toll the old fire bell; and, in a potential tradition introduced this year, performed a piercing bagpipe arrangement of “Amazing Grace.”
