FROM SUBMITTED REPORTS
This just in from city of San Marcos spokesperson Kristi Wyatt:
The city of San Marcos will join with FEMA representatives and volunteer organizations to share information with residents who experienced damage to their homes during the Memorial Weekend Flood. The meeting will take place on Saturday, August 15 at 9 a.m. at Conway Park at 504 Bliss Ln.
Many homeowners whose homes received damage received letters from the City regarding floodplain permits and city code requirements. This meeting will offer residents an opportunity to discuss the letter and their options with City staff.
“Each homeowner’s situation is unique. We encourage each resident to connect with City staff at this meeting or by calling the City’s Engineering Department at (512) 393-8130 to set up a time to meet,” said City Manager Jared Miller. “Our team looks forward to offering insight to help residents through this process.”
In addition to answering questions about the flood damage notification staff will also be on hand to issue floodplain permits to those who qualify. FEMA and SBA representatives will be able available to assist residents with registering for assistance and answer any questions. Local volunteers groups will also attend the meeting to connect with residents who may need assistance with cleanup, repairs or rebuilding.
The City of San Marcos created a Frequently Asked Questions Guide for those who have questions about Substantial Damage Determination Notices, floodplain permits and other rebuilding issues. The guide is available at www.sanmarcostx.gov/smtxfloodrebuild.
