The San Marcos police and fire departments are at the scene of a fatal industrial accident at the A.E. Wood State Fish Hatchery, 507 Staples Road in San Marcos.
Police and firefighters responded about 3:50 p.m. Tuesday to a report of an unconscious man. Police said a Texas Parks and Wildlife employee was working in a chamber about 20-30 feet below ground and was operating a gasoline-powered pump, said Melissa Millecam, the city’s spokesperson.
The victim, whose name has not been released, may have been overcome by carbon monoxide. Firefighters recovered the body of the worker late Tuesday afternoon.
