KYLE — Barbara Joyce Reavis, a 76-year-old Kyle resident, died surrounded by her family on Sunday, July 20. She was born on February 13, 1938 in Belcher, La. to Willie and Bessie (Evans) Walker.
An educator by profession, Reavis was a faithful member of First Baptist Church in San Marcos. She maintained a lifelong passion for missions and served on the Southern Baptist Convention’s International Mission Board.
Reavis is survived by her husband, Don Reavis, to whom she was married for 54 years; a son, Bill Reavis and his wife, Melanie, of Tappahannock, Va.; and a daughter, Arlene Spencer and her husband, Clifford, of Wimberley. She is also survived by seven grandchildren: Will Reavis and his wife, Sarah; Kyle Reavis; Clayton Spencer and his wife, Katelyn; Cody Spencer; Brittney Throckmorton; Rachael Throckmorton; and Hunter Throckmorton. In addition, Reavis leaves behind two brothers: Leon Walker and his wife, Reba; and Charles Walker and his wife, Kathy.
Reavis was preceded in death by a grandson, Andrew Reavis, and a brother, Lester Walker.
Visitation will be held 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 24 at Thomason Funeral Home, 2001 Old Ranch Road 12 in San Marcos. Graveside services will be held 9:30 a.m. Friday, July 25 at the Wimberley Cemetery, located at the intersection of FM 3237 and Old Kyle Road. A celebration of Reavis’s life will be held 11 a.m. Friday, July 25 with the Rev. Mark Newton officiating.
