WIMBERLEY — Judy Diane Pool, a 69-year-old Wimberley resident, died on Friday, July 4 in Kyle from liver failure caused by Hepatitis C. She was born on July 25, 1944 in Pasadena to James Doolan and Betty Jo Doolan.
In 1962, Pool graduated from Milby High School in Houston where she enjoyed writing poetry and reading Edgar Allen Poe. She attended Southwest Texas State College where she was a member of the Strutters dance team.
After her freshman year, Pool left college in 1964 to marry Bobby Eckhart, who enlisted in the U.S. Navy and later ran a family business in Houston. During her marriage to Eckhart, Pool gave birth to two daughters and also suffered a back injury that would afflict the rest of her years. Pool and Bobby Eckhart divorced in 1978.
In 1980, Pool met William R. “Bill” Pool and they were married the next year in Clear Lake City, where they lived for 14 years. The family moved to Wimberley in 1996.
Pool is survived by Bill Pool, to whom she was married for 32 years, and by her daughters, Jennifer Eckhart and Natalie Eckhart Petersen. She is also survived by grandchildren Brenton, Aleigha and Austin and by a sister, Jamie Boozer.
Services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, July 12 at Thomason Funeral Home, 14700 Ranch Road 12 in Wimberley. Burial will follow at 1 p.m. at the San Marcos City Cemetery, 1001 Old Ranch Road 12.Email | Print
