Breathlessly hailed by the Huffington Post as “a cultural exclamation point about American music,” Soul Track Mind has consistently won favorable notice from noteworthy culture critics.
“Sidestepping or in some cases abandoning the most dominant music of the last 20 years, hip-hop, in favor of basic, traditional soul and creating the equivalent of a farm-to-turntable groove,” Rob Hoerburger wrote in a lengthy New York Times Magazine profile of the group.
The show is part of the Summer in the Park Series, presented by the San Marcos Performing Arts Association, the San Marcos Arts Commission and the city’s Parks & Recreation department. The annual concert series continues Thursday evenings through Aug. 14.
The series is sponsored by Grande Communications, San Marcos Lions Club, real estate broker James Walker, Wonder World Park, TXI Hunter Cement and Academy Sports + Outdoor. Tonight’s performance is sponsored by Horizon Bay San Marcos assisted living community.
