WIMBERLEY — Olga Mae Anne Sights Coston, an 84-year-old Wimberley resident, died on Monday, June 23 in San Marcos. She was born on January 5, 1930 in Del Rio.She married Hugh Martin Coston in 1947 and they built a family of seven children, 21 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
Coston was a devout Christian and “went into the arms of her Savior with joy, thanksgiving and great peace,” family members wrote in her official obituary. “She set an example of wisdom and unmatched kindness. Her life is proof that we need never stop learning and improving. She continued well into her 80s to grow closer to her Lord and, in turn, her friends and family.”
Coston was preceded in death by her husband, to whom she was married for 52 years and with whom she anticipated being reunited in eternity. A few days before she died, Coston asked, “Reckon he’ll feel like dancing?”
Coston is survived by her five sons and two daughters: Marty Coston of Austin; Jimmy Coston of Caldwell; Bill Coston and his wife, Carolyn, of Sinton; Wood Coston and his wife, Libby, of Laredo; Scott Coston and his wife, Rhonda, of Somerset; Julie and her husband, Murray, of Trinidad & Tobago; and Sara Thurman and her husband, Wayman, of Wimberley. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren are spread across the globe, from Alaska to Mongolia.
Visitation will be held 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 26 at Thomason Funeral Home, 14700 Ranch Road 12 in Wimberley.
Services will be held 9:30 a.m. Friday, June 27 at Cypress Creek Church, 211 Stillwater Road in Wimberley. A graveside service will follow at 3:30 p.m. at Uvalde Cemetery near Uvalde.
Memorial contributions can be made in Coston’s memory to the women’s ministry at Cypress Creek Church or to the charity of one’s choice.
