WIMBERLEY — Morris “Morrie” Scott Verner III, a 67-year-old Wimberley resident and former Brownsville resident, died suddenly and unexpectedly on Monday, May 12 at his home. He was born January 23, 1947 in Washington, D.C.
Verner graduated from St. Joseph Academy in Brownsville in 1964 and received a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Texas in 1969. Verner began his career as a mathematics teacher in the Brownsville Independent School District. Starting in 1985, he owned a MicroAge computer store franchise. He later sold his business and led development of the Brownsville school district’s computer services department. He moved to Wimberley earlier this year after his retirement.
In 1969, he married the late Janice Vicars Verner in Brownsville where they raised two children, Jason Scott Verner and Shelly Kristen Verner Patman.
Verner is survived by his second wife, Sara Cavazos Verner, to whom he was married in 2002; two children, Jayson Verner of Austin and Kristen Patman of Dallas; and two stepsons, Arturo Ramon Jr. and Alonzo Cavazos. He is also survived by three step-grandchildren: Macie Ballenger, Madeline Ramon and Arturo Ramon III.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Morris Scott Verner Jr. and Frances Duggan Verner.
Services were held Friday, May 15 at Thomason Funeral Home in Wimberley.Email | Print
