Naked escapee plucked from woods hours after Kyle prison break

KYLE — Officers plucked a prison escapee — naked except for white socks — from the woods Saturday afternoon after a six-hour, multi-agency search.

Kendrick Rishard Davis, 34, was found near the intersection of CR 134 (Old Post Road) and FM 150 at about 8 p.m. April 26, less than a half-mile from the Kyle Correctional Center where he is serving a 25-year sentence for armed robbery in Dallas County, according to KXAN News. At about 2:15 p.m., a guard saw Davis, wearing only white boxer shorts and one shoe, jump a fence at the minimum-security facility.

The Texas Department of Public Safety scoured the area with a helicopter and search dogs, the TV station reported, in a search joined by the U.S. Marshals, the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, the Hays County Sheriff’s Office and the Kyle Police Department.

The Kyle Correctional Facility is one of a dozen Texas correctional facilities operated by Centerville, Utah-based Management and Training Corp. It houses 524 inmates, according to the company’s website, most of whom are receiving treatment for substance abuse.

CORRECTION: The story originally stated inaccurately that Davis was found near the intersection of East Post Road and FM 158. He was found near the intersection of Old Post Road and FM 150.
