San Marcos Municipal Airport will play host this weekend to the first in a series of regional fly-ins organized by the national Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association.
More than 580 private aircraft from Texas and seven surrounding states are expected to land at the airport on Saturday, April 26. Organizers say they expect as many as 1,800 people to attend the event.
The San Marcos regional fly-in is billed as the first of its kind coordinated by the Frederick, Md.-based AOPA. Five others are scheduled this year in Indianapolis, Ind.; Plymouth, Mass.; Spokane, Wash.; Chino, Calif.; and St. Simons, Ga.
