William Blocker Jr., M.D., 1918 to 2014

William P. “Bill” Blocker Jr., M.D., 95, died March 26 in San Marcos. He was born July 21, 1918 in Eagle Pass.



Dr. Blocker is survived by a son, William P. Blocker III, and his wife, Patricia, and by two grandchildren: Michael Rye and Andrea Rye-Bibby. He is preceded in death by his wife, Kay R. Blocker, who died in April 2012.

Dr. Blocker graduated from Baylor University and attended medical school at the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston. He began his medical career in the military and then served as a country doctor. He became a respected physician and teacher at Baylor College of Medicine and at Veterans Administration hospitals. He was a fellow of the American College of Physicians.

Dr. Blocker was cremated at his request and will be interred with military honors with his wife at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio. Services under the arrangement of Thomason Funeral Home are pending.
