Seaman Casey Taylor recently completed U.S. Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command in Great Lakes, Ill.
The eight-week program includes classroom study and practical instruction on naval customs, first aid, firefighting, water safety and survival, and shipboard and aircraft safety. Boot camp is capped by the “Battle Stations” exercise in which recruits are tested on swimming survival, teamwork and damage control.
Taylor is the son of Steve V. and Kelly J. Taylor of San Marcos. He is a 2013 graduate of Castle Rock Charter High School in Crescent City, Calif.
