The San Marcos High School girls basketball team dropped two more games in the last week, falling to Smithson Valley at home last Friday, then losing a squeaker at New Braunfels Tuesday night.
The Rattlers now are 0-4 in District 25-5A and 11-18 overall. They will play at home Friday night against Converse Judson (7 p.m.).
Smithson Valley beat the Rattlers, 52-38, on Jan. 11 behind a game-high 15 points from Elizabeth Cathcart. Raelyn Jackson led San Marcos with 13 points. The Rangers held only a 20-15 halftime lead and the Rattlers moved to within 36-32 through three quarters. But the Rangers poured it on with a 16-6 fourth quarter.
The New Braunfels game Tuesday night was tight throughout and neither team could put the other away. In the end, New Braunfels held the one-point lead. Amanda Gonzalez led the Unicorns with 17 points.
Wagner leads district at 3-0, followed by Judson (3-1), New Braunfels and Smithson Valley (each 2-2). New Braunfels Canyon is 1-2 and the Rattlers are 0-4.
