City makes mulch from resident’s recycled Christmas trees

San Marcos residents can bring Christmas trees for recycling and pick up mulch for the garden through January 11, 2014 at the Grant Harris Building parking lot, 401 E. Hopkins.
Residents are asked to remove all ornaments, tinsel and lights, and place trees in the fenced enclosure next to the stage. Mulch is free to the public on a first-come, first-serve basis.
San Marcos residents who want to dispose of Christmas trees at the curb, (after removing ornaments, tinsel and lights), through Texas Disposal Systems should call 800-375-8375 to arrange for a bulky waste pick up. Please call by 2 p.m. on the day before your scheduled trash day.
The next bulky waste pick up weeks are Jan 6-10 and Jan. 20-24.
