Rebels bow out, ending high school season in county

The high school football season ended in Hays County Friday night, when the Hays Rebels lost their second-round playoff game to Leander Rouse, 35-10, in Round Rock.

The Rebels finish the season 9-3.

Hays couldn’t move the ball on the ground, rushing for only 20 yards in 27 attempts. Rouse rushed for 324 yards.

Rouse led all the way and held a 35-10 lead before Hays finally scored a fourth-quarter touchdown on a four-yard pass from Jeff Jordan to Hayden Cagle.

Hays won its playoff opener against San Antonio Brackenridge, 45-20, last Friday at Bob Shelton Stadium.

Wimberley, the only other Hays County team to reach the playoffs, lost its playoff opener last week at home against La Vernia, 21-7. The Texans finished the season 4-7.
