A daily rundown of live entertainment in and around San Marcos tonight, compiled by Mercury Scene Editor Hap Mansfield and our content partners at San Marcos Tonight.
Some instruments speak personally to us with their tones; the digeridoo, the steel drum, the Kalimba, the banjo are all instruments that seem to call to something in our human past and in our present hearts. The Djembe is rope-tuned, skin-covered drum that seems to call us to our past and tell us stories. A good drummer can get his kit to talk but a Djembe player can often get his drum to feel. Djembe Johnny, familiar to local drum circles and events, is one such drummer, appearing tonight at Wake the Dead Coffeehouse tonight at 9:30 p.m. You’ll feel the beats and maybe even get your own story from them.
