Tonight’s Best Bet
If you’ve had a stupid-bad cranky Monday at work, it might be fun to relax at Wake the Dead Coffeehouse tonight at 6 p.m. and watch the Jim Varney, uh, “classic” Ernest Scared Stupid, the fifth of the “Ernest” series. Ubiquitous in the 80s, the Varney character of Ernest is a delight to the 7th grader in everyone. And who can resist lines like “What good is a wooden dog? Oh, sure they swim better, but what am I gonna call him, Splinter?” or Ernest running into a scary looking troll and commenting, “I sure hope you’re from Keebler.” Yeah they’re silly but you just might need a little foolishness tonight.
