Federal and local authorities have arrested a Dripping Springs man they say knocked off at least six banks between Austin and San Antonio during a five-month spree, including Pioneer Bank in San Marcos in March.
Reed
On March 25, Reed allegedly walked in Pioneer Bank, located at the time in a shopping center at 102 Wonder World Drive, showed the teller a handgun and demanded money. He left quickly on foot and was last seen walking northbound through the center’s parking lot.
The Pioneer Bank holdup was the first bank robbery in San Marcos since August 2011, when Compass Bank on Guadalupe Street was robbed. The suspect in that case was later arrested and charged with a string of robberies in the region.
Hays County court records show Reed’s home at 4050 W. U.S. 290 in Dripping Springs went into foreclosure last year.
