Finding itself up against a Texas baseball team well synchronized at the plate, the Texas State baseball team took a 12-5 loss in Austin Tuesday.
The 12th-ranked Longhorns tacked up season highs in runs and hits (16) as it improved to 18-13. Texas State now is 12-20.
The Longhorns scored twice each in the first and second innings, once in the third and four times in the fourth to push a 9-2 lead into the fifth inning.
Morgan Mickan, Andrew Stumph and Garrett Mattlage each had two hits for the Bobcats, who totalled seven hits. Stumph had two RBI.
The Bobcats will play three games at home this weekend against Louisiana Tech in their return to Western Athletic Conference (WAC) play.
