San Marcos’ homegrown Unicycle Football League was featured on a recent episode of the Travel Channel show, “Edge of America.”
In mid-December, a production crew was in town to document an All-Star game of UFL, the full-contact, ballet-on-asphalt born five years ago in an empty parking lot next to Tantra Coffeehouse. These days, scores, and sometimes hundreds, of people turn out on Sunday afternoons to watch the rolling improv spectacle.
“It’s like a giant, weird, hippy college street party,” host Geoff Edgers says of what one participant called “anti-football” football and another dubbed “circus football.” The six-minute segment aired last week.
