Bobcat softball loses two at Texas

The Texas State softball team played two games at Texas in Austin during the weekend and lost them both, 7-0.

In between those games, the Bobcats played the Longhorns at home, and that one went better for the San Marcians. It was rained out in the second inning with the score tied, 3-3.

Picked by league coaches to win the Western Athletic Conference (WAC), the Bobcats now are 3-19. They play one home more game, Friday at against Troy (2 p.m.) before they begin the WAC schedule. This weekend, they go to the Capitol Classic in Sacramento, CA, against Sacramento State, Kansas, Fresno State and St. Mary’s.

Their first WAC series is at home on March 22-23 against Texas-San Antonio (UTSA).

The Bobcats managed a total of four hits in their two full games against the Longhorns in Austin. Haley Lemons had both Texas State hits in the opener last Friday in Austin. Two days later, Kellie Baker and Brooke Baker each had a hit at Texas.
