A strong closing rush Thursday night lifted the Texas State men’s basketball team to a 67-65 win against Seattle at Strahan Coliseum.
The win gave Texas State a two-game sweep for the season against the last-place Redhawks. The Bobcats now are 4-11 in the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) and 9-19 overall, while Seattle is 2-14 and 7-19.
Seattle held a 38-37 halftime lead and extended it to 55-51 with 7:45 left. But a three-pointer by Deonte Jones and a layup by Vonn Jones put the Bobcats aheadm 56-55, with 4:49 left. The Bobcats took the lead for good on a layup by Deonte Jones that made it 58-57 with 2:55 left.
Deonte Jones an Joel Wright each scored 16 points to lead Texas State. Seattle’s Chad Rassmussen led all scorers with 18 points.
Texas State will play its final home game of the season Saturday against Idaho (2 p.m.).
