Bobcats to seek winning ways against Northern Kentucky


With three games coming up at home this weekend against Northern Kentucky, the Texas State baseball team is hoping to get into the winning habit.

The Bobcats are 2-6 after losing three straight games. Their latest loss came Tuesday, a 7-5 decision at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.

The Bobcats used eight pitchers against A&M-Corpus Christi, but most of the damage came in the first four innings. The Islanders scored three against Texas State starter Mitchell Pitts in 2 1/3 innings, then added two more in one inning against his reliever, Andrew Boes.

Texas State had nine hits against A&M-Corpus Christi, but none went for extra bases. Cody Lovejoy led the Texas State offense by going three-for-five.

The Bobcats will open their series against Northern Kentucky Friday (6:30 p.m.) at Bobcat Field. The two teams will square off again at 4 p.m. on Saturday and at 11 a.m. on Sunday.

  1. Everyone ought to check out a game or two. A baseball game is one of the best ways I know, to relax and enjoy a Texas afternoon/evening. The team is usually pretty solid, and tickets are about the same price as a movie.

    TXST athletics is one of the really cool things about San Marcos.
