Tonight’s Best Bet

Even if you have the popcorn and nachos in full supply to watch the Oscars tonight, you can still catch some great music and do some good today. The 4th Annual Empty Bowls fundraiser at Kyle City Hall from 11:30-1:30 p.m., will benefit the Hays County Food Bank and attendees get a serving of nourishing soup and a bowl to take home in the bargain. The Hats Off for Hospice benefit at Kyle Old Town events center from 2-6 p.m. features barbecue plates furnished by Black’s, hayrides, fun stuff for the kids and the music of Texas award-winner Bob Schneider (pictured above). The live auction features items from football notables Tom Brady, Michael Irvin and Arian Foster and guitars from George Strait and Alan Jackson. You won’t get the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award at the Oscar ceremony but you will get a bowl or some great music, fun and a plate of barbecue. Quite frankly, as far as we can see, you are the real winner today.
