Working with U.S. Marshals, San Marcos police arrested Jonathan Porterie, 22, in San Antonio Tuesday evening after a three day search for the man suspected in a sexual assault at a San Marcos apartment complex.
Cmdr. Penny Dunn said Porterie was taken into custody without incident at his mother’s home at 230 Hosack Avenue in San Antonio.
San Marcos investigators transported him to the Hays County Law Enforcement Center, arriving at 7:45 p.m.
“It’s a great relief to get him in custody, especially for the victim and the apartment residents,” Commander Dunn said.
Porterie is accused in the sexual assault of a woman at the University Club Apartments around 3:30 a.m. Sunday. The victim identified him by his first name and he is known by many of the residents since he lived in the complex prior to his arrests in September, Dunn said. Additional charges may be filed against Porterie and against family members for harboring a fugitive.
He is expected to be magistrated Wednesday. He had been out on $45,000 bond on previous charges for incidents that occurred in September.
The suspect is a former resident of the apartment complex and had been arrested and charged twice in September for entering unlocked apartments of young female residents.
On Sept. 7, 2012, he was charged with Criminal Trespass of Habitation – Class A Misdemeanor, after a woman discovered Porterie in her room standing near her bed. She called 911 and he was arrested at his apartment in the same building, Dunn said.
Porterie was already under investigation for an earlier incident reported on Sept. 4 where he was accused of illegally entering the apartment of a resident of the complex and making physical contact with the victim.
He left the apartment when the woman and roommate confronted him. Porterie was charged with Burglary of a Habitation with Intent to Commit a Felony – 1st Degree Felony. He posted bond of $45,000 and was released from the Hays County Law Enforcement Center on Sept. 14.
