The San Marcos City Council is looking for volunteers to serve on a five member Citizens Utility Advisory Board that will advise the city on important financial decisions involving the City’s electric and water/ wastewater utility systems.
The council will make the appointments on July 17 at their regularly scheduled meeting. Applications are available at the City Clerk’s office at City Hall, 630 E. Hopkins or online here and are due by 4:30 p.m. July 11.
The board will review the financial performance and resources of the utilities. The council established the board by ordinance on June 5.
The board will have five voting members, including a citizen at- large. The other four members ideally will include two members who are licensed professional engineers or experienced in the operations of public utilities and two with education or experience in finance and accounting.
All members must be customers of the city utility systems and live in the city limits. The mayor will serve as a non-voting ex-officio member and as chair of the board. Service will be for staggered two year terms.
The board will meet quarterly to review rates, fees and financial performance and make recommendations to the city council. For more information contact City Clerk Jamie Lee Pettijohn at 512-393-8090.Email | Print
