Army reservist Tyler Joseph Timms, age 23, was identified by San Marcos police as the victim of a fatal accidental shooting that occurred about 12:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 25 in the 100 block of North LBJ in downtown San Marcos.
According to police Cmdr. Penny Dunn, Timms carried a handgun with him to the downtown area when he went out with friends. The gun was left in a pickup truck.
Timms returned with two companions to the truck and got into the back seat. The preliminary investigation indicates that Timms was holding the weapon when it discharged, striking him in the head. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Evidence so far indicates that the shooting was accidental, Dunn said. Police are continuing their investigation.Email | Print
