City, TxDOT holding open house on North LBJ improvements

The North LBJ Drive reconstruction project from Sessom to Holland Street will be the subject of an Open House on Wednesday, March 28, sponsored by the city of San Marcos Engineering/Capital Improvements Department and Texas Department of Transportation.

The Open House will be held in the San Marcos Public Library Multi-Purpose Room from 6 to 8 p.m. The San Marcos Public Library is located at 625 E. Hopkins, San Marcos, Texas 78666.

The North LBJ Drive Improvements project will widen the roadway, add dedicated bike lanes and sidewalks, upgrade water, wastewater utilities and improve drainage in the area. The project is in the preliminary design phase with a contract award anticipated early in 2013. Construction would last approximately 18 months.

The layout of the proposed project and typical sections of the street improvements will be displayed at the Open House. Engineers, City and TxDOT staff will not make a formal presentation but will be on hand to answer any questions from the public and accept comments.

Area business owners, residents and all interested citizens are encouraged to attend. The City of San Marcos will hold additional community meetings as the project progresses.

For more information on the project, call the City of San Marcos Engineering/Capital Improvements Department at 512-393-8130.

  1. Let us all hope that this is not another Rio Vista nightmare. Could we please get this one done in less than 2 years. North LBJ handles a lot of traffic and the detours are going to be very disruptive. Could we please make the contractor do the work in a timely manner.
