San Marcos police have identified the victim of the city’s first homicide of 2012 as Brandon Valdez, age 30, of San Marcos who was shot and killed at 141 Coers Drive around 5:15 p.m. Monday.
Charged with his murder is Damien Cuellar, age 19. He is jailed at the Hays County Law Enforcement Center on a $750,000 bond.
According to Police Cmdr. Penny Dunn, Valdez went to the residence to pick up some personal property from his ex-girlfriend, the suspect’s sister.
Valdez and Cuellar had an argument outside the residence. Cuellar allegedly went into the home, retrieved a 12-gauge shotgun and came back outside where he shot Valdez.
San Marcos Police, fire and EMS responded to the scene where the victim was pronounced dead.
Cuellar was arrested by police and charged with murder, a first degree felony. San Marcos police are continuing their investigation.
