Gary Job Corps honored in Washington, DC

The Gary Job Corps Center has been recognized by the National Job Corps Association as a Gold Star Recipient of the 125 Job Corps Centers in the United States and Puerto Rico.

The Gold Star Award symbolizes the involvement in the Community through community service and keeping the elected officials educated on the service accomplished by the staff, students and community.

Gary staff visited with the Washington, DC Congressional offices of Congressman Doggett, Canseco, Gonzales, Hinojosa, Paul, and Senator Cornyn during the week of Feb. 5. The students had face-to-face visits with Congressman Reyes, Cuellar, Gene Green, and Congresswoman Shelia Jackson-lee. Among the initiatives discussed were the formation of a Texas Job Corps Coalition comprised by the Gary Job Corps, San Marcos, Laredo Job Corps, Laredo, David Carrasco, El Paso, and the North Texas Job Corps, in McKinney, TX.
