San Marcos police arrested 18-year-old Richard Earl Harris, Jr. on Feb. 14 and charged him with three counts of vehicle burglary.
Police were dispatched to 705 River Road at about 5:02 a.m. on Feb. 14 after a phone caller said someone in a black hoodie was testing the door handles of multiple vehicles in the parking lot of Colony Square Condominiums.
Officers said they discovered Harris in the parking lot wearing a black hoodie, one black leather glove, and wielding a red LED flashlight. Harris was found to be in possession of multiple cell phone chargers, two pocket knives, jewelry, bracelets and “other things that obviously didn’t belong to him,” said SMPD Cpl. Wayne Casteel.
Harris was detained and placed in a patrol car. Two owners of the vehicles were located, they identified their stolen property, and Harris was taken to the jail, Casteel said.
Harris is still at the jail on bonds totaling $9,000. Jail records indicate he has been arrested five times since April 30 on charges ranging from public intoxication, state jail felony drug possession, endangering a child, interfering with an emergency call, and criminal mischief. Court records indicate he has no convictions. His pending charges include the vehicle burglary charges, criminal mischief, and interfering with an emergency call.Email | Print
