Noted folk musician Sara Hickman will perform at the Price Seniors Center on Feb. 22.
Hickman, who has toured with Billy Bragg, Nanci Griffith and Dan Fogelberg, was recognized as the 2010-2011 Official State Musician of Texas. She has opened for the likes of Lucinda Williams, John Hiatt, and the Decemberists. Hickman has been making albums since 1988 and winning music awards since 1990.
General seating for the Feb. 22 event is $15, which also pays for a wine and cheese reception. Hickman is scheduled to perform at 7:30 p.m. in the 1910 Room of the seniors center, which is located at 222 West San Antonio Street. The doors to seating open at 7 p.m.
The event is sponsored by the Texas State Encore University Performing Arts Series, which is coordinated through the school’s College of Fine Arts and Communication. Encore Series tickets can be purchased online or at the door.
Hickman is also known for her writing, painting, skill as a public speaker, and her philanthropic efforts. She teaches parenting, creativity and songwriting classes, and is on the roster with the International Speaker’s Bureau.
Her new albulm “The Best of Times,” which contains Texas artists performing her music, is intended to raise awareness and funding for arts education programs in Texas schools.Email | Print
