Four San Marcos Baptist Academy swimmers have qualified for a swimming championship set for Feb. 17-18 at the Northeast ISD Natatorium in San Antonio.
Zane Shirley, a senior from Kyle, will swim the 200 yard freestyle and will also be part of the 200 yard freestyle boys relay team. Others on that team are senior Deli Xu of China and juniors David Li of China and Tom Brotherton of San Marcos.
The four swimmers qualified for state following their performance Feb. 3 at the Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools North Regional Championship Meet at the Mansfield ISD Natatorium.
Others participating in that meet were senior Herriott Parker of Georgetown; juniors Caroline Roberts of Port Aransas and Naomi Umadia of Nigeria; and freshman Amber Malone of Nolanville.
“I am very proud of our middle school and high school swim teams this year,” SMA Swim Coach Adrien Thom said. “Times at meets have consistently dropped in individual and relay events, and this team has proved continued progress in the program. We are a young team with tremendous potential and a willingness to give it all in each event and competitive arena. I am grateful for those in the coaching community who have supported our interest and who have hosted us this season.”Email | Print
