Captain George Malone (front row at right), an instructor from the Mesquite Fire Department, joins San Marcos firefighters in a training exercise Oct. 25 at the San Marcos Municipal Airport. Malone and Lieut. Shannon Stephens from the Colony Fire Department presented a 12-hour train-the trainer course on dealing with liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) emergencies and how to instruct their peers using this and other propane-fired props. These firefighters will now train the rest of the department as well as firefighters from surrounding communities using the $270,000 props.
