The city of San Marcos will begain repairing sanitary sewer lines in several older neighborhoods today.
Motorists may expect temporary single lane closures as contractors work in manholes in the neighborhoods. Most lane closures will be for less than a day, and some work will occur away from roads and not affect traffic.
The first neighborhoods to have the repairs over the next month include the 200 and 900 blocks of W. San Antonio, S. Endicott, 600 block of McGehee, 900 block of W. Martin Luther King, Jr., and 1000 block of Burleson Street.
The city has contracted with RePipe Construction, LTD of Houston to begin design and construction repairs to sewer line defects identified in a 2008 sanitary sewer line study.
The 2008 study was conducted on 21.6 miles of the City’s oldest sewer lines in the Heritage, Dunbar, Victory Gardens, East Guadalupe and portions of downtown. Defects to be repaired exist in various portions of the areas studied.
The ongoing $684,000 sewer repair program will continue until October 2012.
