Updated: Police find man reported on campus with knife

A construction worker who allegedly threatened a co-worker with a knife and caused a scare on Texas State University campus this afternoon has agreed to turn himself in, officials said.

Aleczandar Yorick Lovern, 29, was located in San Antonio and is expected to surrender to authorities, said Mark Hendricks, the university’s spokesperson.

At about 11:30 a.m. today, Lovern “is alleged to have assaulted a co-worker with a knife” at the North Campus Residence Hall.

When police received the report of the incident, they immediately alerted the campus community via text messages and emails and asked people to avoid the area near the intersection of Sessom Drive and Comanche Street.

  1. I’m glad TxState has an alert system set up, HOWEVER, the way they alerted the students and faculty/staff was a mess! The messages where not in full sentences and created a sense of choas! If they would have used full sentences, instead of short abreviated phrases, then the situation whould have been communicated a lot better.
