STAFF REPORT

Veterans are invited to gather at the Texas State Outdoor Recreation Building at Sewell Park to help clean up the San Marcos River on Thursday, July 21, from 5 to 6:30 p.m.

“Twenty-one area veterans and members of the Texas State University Veterans Alliance came together last month and swam, snorkeled and kayaked between Spring Lake Falls and Rio Vista Falls, cleaning up the river,” said Jude Prather, Veteran Services Officer for Hays County. “Unfortunately, more trash has accumulated, and our veterans want to help remove it so that the river remains an enjoyable place to spend the summer.”

Volunteers are encouraged to bring their own snorkels, but trash bags and kayaks will be provided. For information, contact Prather at jude.prather@co.hays.tx.us or by calling (office) 512-392-8387 or (cell) 512-749-7311.
