STAFF REPORT

Last week,  staff from De Zavala Elementary School, the San Marcos CISD Child Nutrition Department and several members of the Ponce family gathered to pay tribute to Annette Narvarro, who passed away around Thanksgiving of 2010. Narvarro worked with the Child Nutrition Department since 2002.

Navarro served at the Pathfinder Learning Center, now Phoenix Academy, and since 2008 was the cafeteria manager for De Zavala Elementary School.

At the ceremony De Zavala Principal Dolores Cruz said, “Annette was very dedicated to her job at De Zavala. She was compassionate and caring when it came to working with the staff and students on the campus.”

Mike Boone and Melba Perez, employees of the Child Nutrition Department, agreed that Narvarro treated the children as if they were her own and she always had a smile on her face.

Said Cruz, “She made sure all students were well fed every day when they came through the cafeteria lines. She knew the students’ names and greeted them personally when they picked up their meal. She is truly missed by everyone at our campus.”
