San Marcos Academy (SMA) head football coach Les Davis announced last week that SMA senior Josh McIntyre was named to the Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools (TAPPS) Academic All- State team.

McIntyre was previously named to the First Team, All-District in TAPPS Division II-District 3 as a defensive back. He also was an honorable mention selection on offense as a receiver.

McIntyre also plays on the SMA varsity soccer team, which recently clinched a berth in the TAPPS bi-district playoffs with a 9-3-1 record.

An all-around athlete, McIntyre finished second in the state last year in the 300-meter hurdles and was part of the 4×440 relay team that finished fourth in the TAPPS-4-A State Meet. The meet was particularly notable in light of the fact that the SMA team consisted of only four students on the track team, beating out more than 20 other Class-A schools with larger teams.

McIntyre is in his second year of study at SMA. He is from The Woodlands. He has been accepted at the University of Mississippi.
