Hays County Historical Commission seeks new members

The Hays County Historical Commission (HCHC) is in the process of seeking new members. Applications for positions on the HCHC are being accepted through Jan. 30 in the office of the Hays County judge.

Members of the Hays County Commissioners Court make appointments to HCHC. The number of appointees may be limited. The position calls for a two-year term and the appointee may serve for multiple terms. Members represent all the communities within Hays County.

The HCHC promotes the preservation of Hays County’s historic resources, including archeological sites, and the placement of official Texas Historical Markers. The commission conducts research on the history of the county and shares that information through publications, educational programs and documentary and oral history presentations on historical tours.

Application for membership is available by visiting Go to the “members” section for more information.

  1. What a wonderful idea as a recruiting tool. Please let me know how this works out. Membership is a on going problem for our commission as well.
