The Texas State men’s basketball team snapped a seven-game losing streak Thursday with a 78-69 win against Appalachian State at the Cancun Governor’s Cup in Cancun, Mexico.
The Bobcats leaned on Cameron Johnson, who scored 24 points and led them in scoring for the third straight game. Johnson also had eight renounds.
Texas State improved its record to 3-8. Appalachian State is 4-6.
Texas State was to wrap up the tournament against Northeastern Friday at 2:30 p.m.
Appalachian State started the game strong and took a 19-12 lead with 10:37 left in the first half. The Bobcats rallied to take their first lead at 27-25 with 7:58 left in the half, then extended their lead to 38-32 at halftime.
The Bobcats extended their lead to 14 with 9:08 left in the game and salted it away with abundant free throw opportunities. Texas State made 18 of 34 free throws in the second half and 25 of 42 for the game. Appalachian State made 10 of 22 free throws during the game.Email | Print
