Members of the board of directors of the Lyndon Baines Johnson museum of San Marcos and guests gathered around the museum’s Christmas tree as San Marcos Mayor Daniel Guerrero flipped the switch on the tree lights Monday evening.
Monday, Dec. 6, also marked the fifth anniversary of the museum’s formal opening. The tree lighting reception gave those attending the opportunity to learn more about plans for renovation of the expansive top floor of the county-owned building that houses the museum and the creation of archival and curation areas on the first floor.
Although the museum will be closed during part of the work, it is expected to be open through most of January. Museum hours are Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
