Due to outside phone company issues, the City of San Marcos was unable to receive inbound calls early Friday until approximately 1 p.m. in the afternoon. Emergency phone systems were not affected.
Anyone calling the city’s 393 prefix phone listings from a non-local prefix received a recording stating that the city number was not a working number. CenturyLink and AT&T Wireless worked diligently to resolve the issue, city officials said.
Police Department phones were unaffected and citizens were directed to the police administration offices and records department phone numbers to reach a City of San Marcos employee or department. Non-life threatening emergencies continued to call 753-2108.
Updates to citizens regarding the phone system were posted on the city website at www.sanmarcostx.gov, on Facebook and at twitter.com/cityofsanmarcos.
