Wilks to perform at KSMB concert

Van Wilks will appear Thursday night at San Marcos Plaza Park.

Van Wilks, lauded as one of Austin’s master guitar players, will play at the Keep San Marcos Beautiful (KSMB) concert Thursday at 7 p.m.

Appearing with Wilks will be special guest Adam Johnson and the Red Rooster Revue.

The concert will take place at the San Marcos Plaza Park stage, located at the corner of C.M. Allen Parkway and Hopkins Street. Food sales are provided by the local Boy Scout Pack 1954 and refreshments will be provided by Tantra Coffeehouse.

Wilks has toured nationally and internationally with such acts as ZZ Top and is said to have torn the roof off nightclubs and concert halls from Lubbock to Paris.

The KSMB Fall Concert Series features weekly acts every Thursday evening through Oct. 28.

Organizers invite guests to bring blankets and lawn chairs for each night of free musical entertainment to include an array of art and eco opportunities.

The event is presented by Keep San Marcos Beautiful, TallMan Records, Texas Commission on the Arts, the San Marcos Arts Commission, San Marcos Parks and Recreation, the Chamber of Commerce Green Living Showcase and Full Circle Salon.

  1. The music was smokin’ hot tonight! Awesome guitar playing, tight band, really enjoyable. We didn’t get there until after 9pm, but from then until 10pm, wow, what a performance!
