Running for a fifth term, State. Rep. Patrick M. Rose, a San Marcos Democrat, and challenger Jason Isaac, a Dripping Springs Republican, spared over immigration, education funding and an anticipated Texas budget shortfalls at the San Marcos Area League of Women Voters candidate debate on Oct. 11. They contrasted most sharply perhaps on the subject of Pedernales Electric Cooperative governance. Isaac said lawmakers should leave the co-op’s elected board alone; Rose continued to push for legislation requiring the organization to adhere to open records and open meetings statutes.
