Library to host Kaplan college prep workshops

STAFF REPORT

Throughout October, the San Marcos Public Library, 625 East Hopkins Street, will hold a series of free college preparation workshops offered by Kaplan for those preparing to take the Scholastic Assessment Test (SAT) and the American College Test (ACT) .

The programs are open to any member of the community wishing to participate. No registration is required.

At 2 p.m. Saturday, a test review and strategies sorkshop will be featured. Two workshops will be offered on Oct. 16 —  an SAT/ACT essay  writing workshop at 2 p.m. and the SAT/ACT ten question challenge at 4 p.m.

In a national survey, college admissions officers identified test scores on the ACT or SAT as one of the most important factors when determining candidates for entry.  The Kaplan workshops are designed to give test-takers a competitive edge in the college admissions process.

More workshops are planned for November.

For more information on the Kaplan workshops at the library, call (512) 393-8200.
