Central Texas Medical Center (CTMC’s) Heritage Program for senior adults will offer a free, three-part community lecture series designed for those who are caregivers for senior individuals.
“Helping Caregivers Go the Distance” will be held the third Wednesday of each month for three consecutive months, starting in October. The lectures will be from 6-7 p.m. in the CTMC Community Classroom and will be held Oct. 20, Nov. 17 and Dec. 15.
The lecture program seeks to help caregivers develop the road map for the caregiving journey. Caregivers will learn about structure in the home, legal planning, managing stress, long-term care planning and dealing with loved ones suffering with Alzheimer’s and other related dementias.
“As an individual takes on the new support role for a loved one as a caregiver, that individual needs educational and emotional support through the transition,” said Clara Hollis, CTMC Heritage Senior Program Director.
