STAFF REPORT
The Travis County Sheriff’s Office, Skydive San Marcos, other law enforcement agencies and the Wounded Warrior Project will host the Leap Of Heroes at Skydive San Marcos Friday at 11 a.m.
The Wounded Warrior project is intended to bring the promise of a bright and active future to service men and women injured in the Afghanistan and Iraq conflicts. Wounded warriors will participate in ceremonies and skydives at the event.
The warriors will be escorted from the San Marcos Police Department (SMPD) to Mendez Elementary School, 1805 Peter Garza Drive, where there will be a short ceremony with the students at 10:15 a.m.
The warriors will continue on, escorted to Skydive San Marcos, at the Fentress Airpark on SH 80 in Fentress.
At 11 a.m., tandem skydives will start. A lunch will be provided by the warriors and the sponsors at the airpark as the skydives are getting underway.
The skydives are scheduled to last until 6:30 p.m.
Donations for the Wounded Warrior Project may be sent to the Travis County Sheriff’s office, P.O. Box 1748, Austin, TX 78767. More information on this event can be found by visiting www.tcsheriff.org.
The Wounded Warrior Project is awesome and it is great to see Skydive San Marcos participating. Maybe this could be an annual event, with even more local businesses (and the city) participating.
