Texas State announces new physical therapy program

The Department of Physical Therapy at Texas State will begin a new balance and gait training program at the physical therapy clinic on campus at the end of August.

The program is specifically for persons who are experiencing  balance problems after a stroke or head injury. The grant-funded program offers physical therapy to qualified patients twice a week, free of charge.

To qualify for the program, participants must be age 18 years or older. The stroke or head injury must have occurred at least six months ago. The patient must also have weakness on one side of the body (hemiparesis) and be able to tolerate walking at least ten feet with assistance. Participants who qualify must find their own  transportation to the Health Professions Building on the campus of Texas State.

The program has limited space.
