Trauth announces prestigious university awards

Texas State President Denise Trauth has announced the 2010 honorees for four sets of prestigious teaching awards at the university, including the the Presidential Awards for Excellence in Teaching, Excellence in Scholarly/Creative Activities, Excellence in Service and the Presidential Seminar Award.

These awards go to faculty members who have demonstrated outstanding performance in teaching, outstanding performance in scholarship and outstanding performance in service.

A selection committee of faculty and students reviewed the nominees for the awards, which will be formally presented at the university convocation and annual general gaculty meeting 9 a.m. on Aug. 24 in Strahan Coliseum.

The Presidential Awards for Excellence in Teaching are going to English Professor Kathleen C. Peirce, and Family and Consumer Services Professor Gwendolyn Hustvedt.

The Presidential Awards for Excellence in Scholarly/Creative Activities are going to Biology Professor Michael Forstner and Engineering Technology Assistant Professor Soon Jae Lee.

The Presidential Awards for Excellence in Service are going to Counseling, Leadership, Adult Education and School Psychology Assistant Linda Homeyer and Journalism and Mass Communications Assistant Professor David S. Nolan.

The Presidential Seminar Award is going to James LeSage of the Department of Finance and Economics.
